Where I worked there was no parking and the public transit system had a new (unreliable is an understatement) train. It was more important for me to budget money for taxis and Ubers in emergencies than own a car. I plan on living close enough to walk to my next workplace, that's the most reliable I think I can get at this point.

I messed up on the computer purchase. Also had a trustworthy Mac Pro for 5 years, then bought a Mac Air, low-end. I curse it and it's lack of storage every day.
