Though it has probably existed for a while now, I saw the little green ‘listen’ button for the first time today after publishing an article. You can find it right next to the read time, where it has a pause button and says 5:37 in the picture below.

Because I read almost exclusively on the mobile app, I’ve never noticed this feature before. Or maybe the coffee was extra strong this morning because, like someone was there pointing it out to me, I couldn’t see anything other than ‘listen.’ I had to try it out—what an experience.

It works shockingly well. The narration is surprisingly smooth and sounds more natural than robotic. I wish I had noticed this feature sooner.

I don’t think you can listen on the mobile app, but I’m happy to be corrected. So, to my mobile readers, I encourage you to hop on your browser and check this tool out. I’ve tried it on my MacBook and my family’s desktop PC using Firefox, Safari, and Chrome. The best part of all is that it works on my iPhone and iPad in the browser, though it’s glitchier, and I couldn’t change the narrator or…
