27 mindset shifts and goals for my 27th Year

As I turn 27 this year, I’m gifting myself 27 mindset shifts and actions to grow, practice more self-compassion, and lead a more authentic and balanced life.

  1. Releasing “Should”: I watched one of Linda Sun’s videos, and she talked about how her therapist wisely pointed out that “should” often equals shame. It’s something I say to myself all the time. I should empty the dishwasher. I should do schoolwork. I should go for a run. Instead of using should, I’ll choose action or release the expectation. Do it, or don’t feel bad about it.
  2. Defining “I Am”:Hum” in yoga is a sound that signifies a deep inner connection to the divine or the self. “I am” is a statement about the True Self or used for a Sankalpa or intention. It’s a phrase I want to reserve for my identity. “Anando Hum” (I am bliss). For temporary states, I’ll use “I feel” (e.g., “I feel stressed”), acknowledging the transient nature of emotions and suffering.
  3. Grace and Forgiveness: I want to approach my actions and thoughts with compassion and understanding. Ordering takeout instead of cooking? A Netflix binge after a long day? No judgment. Self-care comes in many forms. I need to give myself grace sometimes and space from always doing. I’ve also…
